SURRENDER

O Jesus, I Surrender Myself to You
(Total Abandonment to God)

Words of Jesus to Fr. Dolindo Ruotolo, a Capuchin Friar who was with (Saint) Padre Pio at Pietrelcina. St. Pio once said of this priest, “The whole of paradise is in your soul.”

Day 1 _ 0:00:23 / Day 2 _ 0:01:02 /
Day 3 _ 0:02:13 / Day 4 _ 0:04:02 /
Day 5 _ 0:05:06 / Day 6 _ 0:05:58 /
Day 7 _ 0:07:12 / Day 8 _ 0:08:24 /
Day 9 _ 0:09:15

A Powerful Novena:

Day 1
Why do you confuse yourselves by worrying? Leave the care of your affairs to Me and everything will be peaceful. I say to you in truth that every act of true, blind, complete surrender to Me produces the effect that you desire and resolves all difficult situations.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Day 2
Surrender to Me does not mean to fret, to be upset, or to lose hope; nor does it mean offering to Me a worried prayer asking Me to follow you and change your worry into prayer. It is against this surrender, deeply against it, to worry, to be nervous, and to desire to think about the consequences of anything. It is like the confusion that children feel when they ask their mother to see to their needs, and then try to take care of those needs for themselves so that their childlike efforts get in their mother’s way. Surrender means to placidly close the eyes of the soul, to turn away from thoughts of tribulation and to put yourself in My care, so that only I act -- saying, “You take care of it.”

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Day 3
How many things I do when the soul, in so much spiritual and material need, turns to Me, looks at Me and says to Me, “You take care of it” -- then closes its eyes and rests. In pain you pray for Me to act, but that I act in the way you want. You do not turn to Me; instead, you want Me to adapt to your ideas. You are not sick people who ask the doctor to cure you; but rather, sick people who tell the doctor how to. So do not act this way, but pray as I taught you in the Our Father: “Hallowed be thy Name” -- that is, be glorified in my need. “Thy kingdom come” -- that is, let all that is in us and in the world be in accord with Your kingdom. “Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven” -- that is, in our need, decide as You see fit for our temporal and eternal life. If you say to Me truly: “Thy will be done,” which is the same as saying: “You take care of it,” I will intervene with all My omnipotence, and I will resolve the most difficult situations.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Day 4
You see evil growing instead of weakening? Do not worry. Close your eyes and say to Me with faith: “Thy will be done, You take care of it.” I say to you that I will take care of it, and that I will intervene as does a doctor, and I will accomplish miracles when they are needed. Do you see that the sick person is getting worse? Do not be upset, but close your eyes and say, “You take care of it.” I say to you that I will take care of it, and that there is no medicine more powerful than My loving intervention. By My love, I promise this to you.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Day 5
And when I must lead you on a path different from the one you see, I will prepare you; I will carry you in My arms; I will let you find yourself, like children who have fallen asleep in their mother’s arms, on the other bank of the river. What troubles you and hurts you immensely are your reason, your thoughts and worry, and your desire at all costs to deal with what afflicts you.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Day 6
You are sleepless; you want to judge everything, direct everything and see to everything, and you surrender to human strength -- or worse, to men themselves, trusting in their intervention. This is what hinders My words and My views. Oh how much I wish from you this surrender, to help you; and how I suffer when I see you so agitated! Satan tries to do exactly this: to agitate you and to remove you from My protection, and to throw you into the jaws of human initiative. So, trust only in Me, rest in Me, surrender to Me in everything.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Day 7
I perform miracles in proportion to your full surrender to Me, and to your not thinking of yourselves. I sow treasure troves of graces when you are in the deepest poverty. No person of reason, no thinker, has ever performed miracles, not even among the saints. He does divine works whosoever surrenders to God. So don’t think about it any more, because your mind is acute, and for you it is very hard to see evil and to trust in Me, and to not think of yourself. Do this for all your needs; do this all of you and you will see great, continual, silent miracles. I will take care of things; I promise this to you.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Day 8
Close your eyes and let yourself be carried away on the flowing current of My grace. Close your eyes and do not think of the present, turning your thoughts away from the future, just as you would from temptation. Repose in Me, believing in My goodness, and I promise you by My love that if you say, “You take care of it,” I will take care of it all. I will console you, liberate you and guide you.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Day 9
Pray always in readiness to surrender, and you will receive from it great peace and great rewards, even when I confer on you the grace of immolation, of repentance and of love. Then what does suffering matter? It seems impossible to you? Close your eyes and say with all your soul, “Jesus, You take care of it.” Do not be afraid; I will take care of things and you will bless My Name by humbling yourself. A thousand prayers cannot equal one single act of surrender, remember this well. There is no novena more effective than this: “O Jesus, I surrender myself to You, take care of everything!”

O Jesus, I surrender myself to You,
take care of everything!
(10 times)

Mother, I am yours now and forever.
Through you and with you I want to always
belong to Jesus.

A LENTEN MEDITATION

"The Christ of the University Brotherhood of Cordoba"

The result of the work of a team of scientists who are researchers of the Shroud of Turin. It is the only Shroud-based Crucifix in the world. In it, the wounds of Jesus Christ are reproduced exactly.

Shroud-Based Art of Juan Manuel MiƱarro Lopez

O Sacred Head surrounded
By crown of piercing thorn!
O bleeding Head so wounded,
Reviled and put to scorn!
Death's pallid hue comes o'er Thee,
The glow of life decays,
Yet angel hosts adore Thee,
And tremble as they gaze.

In this, Thy bitter passion,
Good shepherd, think of me,
With Thy most sweet compassion,
Unworthy though I be:
Beneath Thy cross abiding,
Forever would I rest;
In Thy dear love confiding,
And with Thy presence blest.

One’s mortal sin testifies to Satan’s victory in one’s life.

Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. (Proverbs 28:13)

LIFE IN THE SPIRIT SEMINAR

A NEW PENTECOST

Catholic Charismatic Renewal

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

"What we learn in the New Testament on charisms, which appeared as visible signs of the coming of the Holy Spirit, is not a historical event of the past, but a reality ever alive. It is the same divine Spirit, soul of the Church, that acts in every age and those mysterious and effective interventions of the Spirit are manifest in our time in a providential way. The Movements and New Communities are like an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the Church and in contemporary society. We can, therefore, rightly say that one of the positive elements and aspects of the Community of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal is precisely their emphasis on the charisms or gifts of the Holy Spirit and their merit lies in having recalled their topicality in the Church." _ Address of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to Charismatic Catholics, October 2008

"...Do not grow weary of turning to Heaven: the world stands in need of prayer. It needs men and women who feel the attraction of Heaven in their life, who make praise to the Lord a new way of life. And may you be joyful Christians! I entrust you all to Mary Most Holy, present in the Upper Room at the event of Pentecost. Persevere with her in prayer, walk guided by the light of the living Holy Spirit, proclaiming the Good News of Christ." _ Address of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to Charismatic Catholics, May 26, 2012

Halfhearted Commitment to the Faith is Nauseating to Christ: "I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit (vomit) you out of my mouth." (Revelation 3:15-16)

Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. (Romans 12:11)

Evangelii Gaudium
Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis
On the Proclamation of the Gospel in
Today’s World

#259) Spirit-filled evangelizers means evangelizers fearlessly open to the working of the Holy Spirit. At Pentecost, the Spirit made the apostles go forth from themselves and turned them into heralds of God’s wondrous deeds, capable of speaking to each person in his or her own language. The Holy Spirit also grants the courage to proclaim the newness of the Gospel with boldness (parrhesĆa) in every time and place, even when it meets with opposition. Let us call upon him today, firmly rooted in prayer, for without prayer all our activity risks being fruitless and our message empty. Jesus wants evangelizers who proclaim the good news not only with words, but above all by a life transfigured by God’s presence.

#261) Whenever we say that something is “spirited,” it usually refers to some interior impulse which encourages, motivates, nourishes and gives meaning to our individual and communal activity. Spirit-filled evangelization is not the same as a set of tasks dutifully carried out despite one’s own personal inclinations and wishes. How I long to find the right words to stir up enthusiasm for a new chapter of evangelization full of fervor, joy, generosity, courage, boundless love and attraction! Yet I realize that no words of encouragement will be enough unless the fire of the Holy Spirit burns in our hearts. A spirit-filled evangelization is one guided by the Holy Spirit, for he is the soul of the Church called to proclaim the Gospel. Before offering some spiritual motivations and suggestions, I once more invoke the Holy Spirit. I implore him to come and renew the Church, to stir and impel her to go forth boldly to evangelize all peoples.

MARY, UNDOER OF KNOTS: NOVENA MEDITATIONS

"Eve, by her disobedience, tied the knot of disgrace for the human race; whereas Mary, by her obedience, undid it." _ Saint Irenaeus

Q: What "knots" can Mary undo/untie?
A: Problems and struggles we face for which we do not see any solution.

The Blessed Virgin Mary comes to provide jobs, good health, to reconcile families... because she wants to undo the knots of our sins which dominate our lives, so that -- as sons and daughters of the King -- we can receive the promises reserved for us from eternity. Mary comes with promises of victory, peace, blessings and reconciliation.

THE NOVENA

Each Day

1. Make the Sign of the Cross.
2. Make an Act of Contrition:
Oh my God I am heartily sorry for having offended You. I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell. But most of all, because I offended You, oh my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
3. Pray the first 3 decades of the Rosary, with mysteries for the day.
4. Make the Meditation of the day.
5. Pray the last 2 decades of the Rosary, with mysteries for the day.
6. Finish with the Prayer to Mary, Undoer of Knots.

Meditation for Day 1

Dearest Holy Mother, Most Holy Mary, you undo the knots that suffocate your children. Extend your merciful hands to me. I entrust to you today this knot [Mention your request here] and all the negative consequences that it provokes in my life. I give you this knot that torments me and makes me unhappy and so impedes me from uniting myself to you and your Son Jesus, my Savior. I run to you, Mary, Undoer of Knots, because I trust you and I know that you never despise a sinning child who comes to ask you for help. I believe that you can undo this knot because Jesus grants you everything. I believe that you want to undo this knot because you are my Mother. I believe that you will do this because you love me with eternal love. Thank you, Dear Mother.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Prayer to Mary, Undoer of Knots

Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by the divine love and immense mercy that exists in your heart, cast your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that exist in my life. You know very well how desperate I am, my pain, and how I am bound by these knots.
Mary, Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life. No one, not even the Evil One himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your hands there is no knot that cannot be undone.
Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with your Son and my Liberator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot. [Mention your request here] I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all. You are my hope.
O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of my destitution, and, with Christ, the freedom from my chains. Hear my plea. Keep me, guide me, protect me, O safe refuge!
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Meditation for Day 2

Mary, Beloved Mother, channel of all grace, I return to you today my heart, recognizing that I am a sinner in need of your help. Many times I lose the graces you grant me because of my sins of egoism, pride, rancor and my lack of generosity and humility. I turn to you today, Mary, Undoer of Knots, for you to ask your Son Jesus to grant me a pure, divested, humble and trusting heart. I will live today practicing these virtues and offering you this as a sign of my love for you. I entrust into your hands this knot [Mention your request here] which keeps me from reflecting the glory of God.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Meditation for Day 3

Meditating Mother, Queen of heaven, in whose hands the treasures of the King are found, turn your merciful eyes upon me today. I entrust into your holy hands this knot in my life [Mention your request here] and all the rancor and resentment it has caused in me.
I ask Your forgiveness, God the Father, for my sin. Help me now to forgive all the persons who consciously or unconsciously provoked this knot. Give me, also, the grace to forgive me for having provoked this knot. Only in this way can You undo it.
Before you, dearest Mother, and in the Name of your Son Jesus, my Savior, Who has suffered so many offenses, having been granted forgiveness, I now forgive these persons [Mention their names here] and myself, forever. Thank you, Mary, Undoer of Knots for undoing the knot of rancor in my heart and the knot which I now present to you. Amen.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

[Suggestion: You may want to pause, close your eyes, and ask Jesus who you need to forgive. Names and faces will come to your mind. These are the names you should mention.]

Meditation for Day 4

Dearest Holy Mother, you are generous with all who seek you, have mercy on me. I entrust into your hands this knot which robs the peace of my heart, paralyzes my soul and keeps me from going to my Lord and serving Him with my life. Undo this knot in my love [Mention your request here], O Mother, and ask Jesus to heal my paralytic faith, which gets downhearted with the stones on the road. Along with you, dearest Mother, may I see these stones as friends. Not murmuring against them anymore but giving endless thanks for them, may I smile trustingly in your power.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Meditation for Day 5

Mother, Undoer of Knots, generous and compassionate, I come to you today to once again entrust this knot [Mention your request here] in my life to you and to ask the divine wisdom to undo, under the light of the Holy Spirit, this snarl of problems. No one ever saw you angry; to the contrary, your words were so charged with sweetness that the Holy Spirit was manifested on your lips. Take away from me the bitterness, anger, and hatred which this knot has caused me. Give me, O dearest Mother, some of the sweetness and wisdom that is all silently reflected in your heart. And just as you were present at Pentecost, ask Jesus to send me a new presence of the Holy Spirit at this moment in my life. Holy Spirit, come upon me!
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Meditation for Day 6

Queen of Mercy, I entrust to you this knot in my life [Mention your request here] and I ask you to give me a heart that is patient until you undo it. Teach me to persevere in the living Word of Jesus, in the Eucharist, the Sacrament of Confession; stay with me and prepare my heart to celebrate with the angels the grace that will be granted to me. Amen. Alleluia!
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Meditation for Day 7

Mother Most Pure, I come to you today to beg you to undo this knot in my life [Mention your request here] and free me from the snares of evil. God has granted you great power over all the demons. I renounce all of them today, every connection I have had with them, and I proclaim Jesus as my one and only Lord and Savior. Mary, Undoer of Knots, crush the Evil One’s head and destroy the traps he has set for me by this knot. Thank you, dearest Mother. Most Precious Blood of Jesus, free me!
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Meditation for Day 8

Virgin Mother of God, overflowing with mercy, have mercy on your child and undo this knot [Mention your request here] in my life. I need your visit to my life, like you visited Elizabeth. Bring me Jesus, bring me the Holy Spirit. Teach me to practice the virtues of courage, joyfulness, humility, and faith, and, like Elizabeth, to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Make me joyfully rest on your bosom, Mary. I consecrate you as my Mother, Queen, and friend. I give you my heart and everything I have -- my home and family, my material and spiritual goods. I am yours forever. Put your heart in me so that I can do everything Jesus tells me.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Meditation for Day 9

Most Holy Mary, our Advocate, Undoer of Knots, I come today to thank you for undoing this knot in my life. You know very well the suffering it has caused me. Thank you for coming, Mother, with your long fingers of mercy to dry the tears in my eyes; you receive me in your arms and make it possible for me to receive once again the divine grace. Mary, Undoer of Knots, dearest Mother, I thank you for undoing the knots in my life. Wrap me in your mantle of love, keep me under your protection, enlighten me with your peace. Amen.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

[Suggestion: You may want to ask Mary to undo/untie the "knot of unbelief" in a loved one. I have found the Meditations and the Prayer to Mary, Undoer of Knots to be easily adaptable for this intention.]

Eve's disobedience was untied by Mary's obedience: what the virgin Eve bound through her disbelief, Mary loosened by her faith." Comparing her with Eve, they (Early Church Fathers) call Mary "the Mother of the living" and frequently claim: "Death through Eve, life through Mary." CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, #494

NOT BORN THIS WAY

The Devil attacks what is good and holy -- and perverts it. LGBT (that is, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) is the Devil’s perversion of human sexuality.

Asmodeus is the prince of demons representing one of the seven deadly sins. Asmodeus is the demon of lust that is responsible for twisting people’s sexual desires.

Metropolitan Community Church of New York

LGBT people are good people -- but they have been deceived… They were not born this way! The Devil tricks normal men and women into thinking and believing they are homosexual or bisexual... and demons of lust, homosexuality and sexual perversion build strongholds in their minds.

The attraction is lust -- not love. It is a demon that causes one to feel lust for -- and become sexually aroused by -- another person of the same sex.

The one with the pitchfork says,
“God made you this way.”

As explained in Many Thoughts Are Spirits (http://catholicdeliverance.blogspot.com/2011/06/many-thoughts-are-spirits.html) thoughts come from three places: the subconscious mind, God and the Devil. The spiritual war takes place in the minds of men and women. Both angels and demons can place thoughts in our minds. They can also project images on our minds.

Sex demons can invade our dreams with pornographic fantasies of having sexual relations -- even with members of the same sex!

Demons tempt many people with shameful, degrading, unnatural passions; they tempt them to commit “sins against nature.” Everything is turned upside down! The “sin of the Sodomites” (homosexual sexual activity) is one of the sins that “cries to heaven” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1867).

Temptation is to be resisted (James 4:7). The majority of people reject “same-sex” thoughts with little effort -- but a minority of people act on them. Some people are more vulnerable in this area of their lives than others. For them, “same-sex” temptations become too difficult to resist. And evil increases insensibly, once it is given in to.

The teaching of the Catholic Church regarding homosexual sexual activity as morally disordered -- constituting grave sin and against the Natural Law which binds all human beings -- is clear.

Once these homosexual temptations and perverted sexual fantasies are yielded to, explored, acted on… a door is opened -- consent is given -- and demons of lust, homosexuality... and sexual perversion can invade and inhabit one's body. This is what I refer to as "partial" possession: One's "sexuality" is now under the control of demons.

Men give up (exchange) natural, sexual relations with women and burn with lust for one another; women give up (exchange) natural, sexual relations with men and burn with lust for one another (Romans 1:26-27). Everything is turned upside down!

LGBT people are good people -- but they have been deceived… They were not born this way! All LGBT people are in need of deliverance -- and inner healing.

Eternal Father,
Please give all LGBT people
the graces of True Repentance
and Conversion to Your Son Jesus.
Give them the grace to experience
Your Love,
and be transformed by it.
Amen.

PRAYER FOR ALCOHOLICS & DRUG ADDICTS

“In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Eternal Father, LORD of hosts, we confidently cry out to You in the Name of Your Son Jesus, who ministered to all who came to Him in faith.

With the powerful intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, St. Michael the Archangel, St. John Paul II, St. Catharine of Siena, St. Teresa of Avila, Venerable Matt Talbot (who triumphed over addiction), and all the saints and angels of heaven, we cry out for __________, and for all Your children who are bound by the chains of alcoholism or drug addiction.

Enfold them in Your love; restore them to freedom through Your grace. Give them graces of true repentance and conversion to Your Son Jesus. Transform them by the power of the Holy Spirit. And bless them with Your peace. Amen.

Eternal Father, God of mercy, look with compassion on all who have lost health, relationships, careers, and freedom due to alcoholism or drug addiction. Give them the assurance of Your unfailing mercy and strengthen them in the work of recovery. To friends and family who care for them, grant patient understanding and a love that perseveres. We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Blessed Virgin Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces, for all who are bound by the chains of alcoholism or drug addiction, and for the friends and family who care for them, we ask for all the graces you have to give us. Amen.

“Mother of God, spread the effect of grace of thy Flame of Love over all of humanity, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

“In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

ROSARY OF THE SEVEN SORROWS OF MARY

“In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Introductory Prayer
My God, I offer You this Rosary for Your Glory, that I may honor Your Holy Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, by following and sharing her suffering. I humbly beg You to give me true repentance for all my sins. Give me wisdom and the grace of true humility, that I may receive all the indulgences contained in this prayer. Amen.

(“I offer this Rosary for _____.”)

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend You, my God, You Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

In remembrance of the tears that Mary shed because of the suffering of her Divine Son, and to obtain true sorrow for our sins: Hail Mary (3x)

At the cross her station keeping,
Stood the mournful Mother weeping,
Close to Jesus to the last.

Through her heart, his sorrow sharing,
All his bitter anguish bearing,
Now at length the sword had passed.

~ * * * ~

Most Merciful Mother, remind us always
of the sorrows of your Divine Son.

First Sorrow: The Prophecy of Simeon
(Luke 2:22-35)

According to the law of Moses, the Blessed Virgin Mary took Jesus to the temple to present Him to the Lord. Simeon recognized Jesus as the promised Messiah and said: “Now, Master, you may let Your servant go in peace, according to Your word, for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for Your people Israel.”

Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Prayer: Holy Mother Mary, whose heart suffered beyond bearing because of us, help us to suffer with you, and to accept all the suffering God permits to come our way. Imitating you, may our suffering be known to God alone.

To you, Immaculate Mother, who suffered with the Savior of the world, we offer our suffering and the suffering of the world. Join our sorrows to your own and to those of your Son Jesus; and then, offer them to the Eternal Father for the good of souls. You are a mother greater than all. Amen.

Our Father (1x)
Hail Mary (7x)

Virgin Most Sorrowful, Pray for Us!

Oh, how sad and sore distressed
Was that Mother highly blessed
Of the sole begotten One!

Christ above in torment hangs,
She beneath beholds the pangs
Of her dying, glorious Son.

~ * * * ~

Most Merciful Mother, remind us always
of the sorrows of your Divine Son.

Second Sorrow: The Flight into Egypt
(Matthew 2:13-15)

The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.”

Joseph rose and took the Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt. The holy family stayed in Egypt until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” (Hosea 11:1)

Prayer: Blessed Mother Mary, who has suffered so much, give us a courageous heart like yours. Help us to accept with love all the suffering God permits to come our way. Help us to accept all the suffering we inflict upon ourselves, and the suffering inflicted upon us by others.

You alone, Immaculate Mother, purify our suffering, that we may give glory to God, and save our souls. Amen.

Our Father (1x)
Hail Mary (7x)

Virgin Most Sorrowful, Pray for Us!

Is there one who would not weep,
‘Whelmed in miseries so deep,
Christ’s dear Mother to behold?

Can the human heart refrain
From partaking in her pain,
In that mother’s pain untold?

~ * * * ~

Most Merciful Mother, remind us always
of the sorrows of your Divine Son.

Third Sorrow: The Loss of Jesus in the Temple
(Luke 2:41-52)

At age 12, Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem after the feast of Passover. Thinking that He was in the caravan, His parents journeyed for a day. Not finding Him among their relatives, they returned to Jerusalem.

After three days they found Him in the temple, “sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers.” But Mary exclaimed, “Son, why have You done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for You with great anxiety.” Jesus answered, “Why were you looking for Me? Did you not know that I must be in My Father’s house?”

What pained Mary was that Jesus had decided to stay behind without her consent. She felt the same pain Jesus felt when He was abandoned by His disciples (apostles) during His Passion.

Prayer: Holy Mary, Mother of God, help us to accept everything that will come in this life; help us to be able to carry our crosses. Prepare us to be ready every single moment to come before the Face of God. Amen.

Our Father (1x)
Hail Mary (7x)

Virgin Most Sorrowful, Pray for Us!

Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled,
She beheld her tender Child,
All with bloody scourges rent.

For the sins of his own nation
Saw him hang in desolation
Till his spirit forth he sent.

~ * * * ~

Most Merciful Mother, remind us always
of the sorrows of your Divine Son.

Fourth Sorrow: Mary Meets Jesus on the Way to Calvary
(Luke 23:27-31)

A large crowd followed Jesus, including many women who mourned for Him. Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children, for indeed, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed.’ At that time people will say to the mountains, ‘Fall upon us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’ for if these things are done when the wood is green what will happen when it is dry?”

The Blessed Virgin witnessed Jesus carrying the cross on which He was to be crucified. But this was no surprise to Mary, for she already knew about the approaching death of her Son. Already weakened by the soldier’s cruel scourging, sharp thorns and numerous hard blows, Jesus’ body resembled a corpse carrying a cross.

Filled with anguish, Mary watched as Jesus fell once more, exhausted, unable to raise Himself. At that moment, Mary’s eyes full of love and compassion met her Son’s eyes, pained and covered in blood. She shared in the pain of His Passion.

Prayer: Beloved Mother, so stricken with grief, help us to accept and bear our own suffering, that we may relieve your sorrowful heart and that of Jesus. In doing so, may we give glory to God Who gave you and Jesus to us. As you suffered, teach us to suffer silently and patiently. Grant unto us the grace of loving God in everything.

Immaculate Mother, Mother of Sorrows, most afflicted of all mothers, have mercy on us sinners, and on the sinners of the whole world. Amen.

Our Father (1x)
Hail Mary (7x)

Virgin Most Sorrowful, Pray for Us!

O sweet Mother! font of love,
Touch my spirit from above,
Make my heart with yours accord.

Make me feel as you have felt;
Make my soul to glow and melt
With the love of Christ, my Lord.

Most Merciful Mother, remind us always
of the sorrows of your Divine Son.

Fifth Sorrow: Mary Stands at the Foot of the Cross
(John 19:25-27)

Standing at the foot of the Cross of Jesus were His mother, His mother’s sister (Mary), and Mary Magdalene (“out of whom He had driven seven demons”). When Jesus saw His mother and John (“the disciple whom He loved”), He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple John took the Blessed Virgin Mary into his home.

Prayer: Beloved Mother, Immaculate Mother, Queen of Martyrs, give us the courage you had in all your sufferings so that we may unite our sufferings with yours and give glory to God. Help us to follow your example, so that Jesus’ sacrifice will not be in vain, and all sinners, the world over, will be saved. Amen.

Our Father (1x)
Hail Mary (7x)

Virgin Most Sorrowful, Pray for Us!

Holy Mother, pierce me through,
In my heart each wound renew
Of my Savior crucified.

Let me share with you his pain,
Who for all our sins was slain,
Who for me in torments died.

Most Merciful Mother, remind us always
of the sorrows of your Divine Son.

Sixth Sorrow: Mary Receives the Dead Body of Jesus in Her Arms
(John 19:38-40)

After this, Joseph of Arimathea, secretly a disciple of Jesus for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted it. So he came and took His body. Nicodemus also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes. They took the body of Jesus and bound it with burial cloths along with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom.

Mary knew better than anyone else that Jesus was God Incarnate -- that God had taken a human body to become the Savior of the world. And looking at His broken body, the Holy Mother knew that His agonizing death was far worse than the torture reserved for the wickedest of criminals. Mary prayed for the world. She prayed for all of us, that all would truly follow God, so that Jesus’ torturous death would not be in vain.

Prayer: Beloved Mother, we thank you for your courage as you stood beneath the Cross on which your Son was crucified, giving Himself up for our salvation. That is when you became Our Mother. We implore you to be our advocate before the throne of mercy and grace, so that we can truly become your children. We thank you for Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, and we thank Jesus for giving you to us.

“Holy Mary, Mother of God (Mediatrix of all graces), pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

Our Father (1x)
Hail Mary (7x)

Virgin Most Sorrowful, Pray for Us!

Let me mingle tears with you,
Mourning him who mourned for me,
All the days that I may live.

By the cross with you to stay,
There with you to weep and pray,
Is all I ask of you to give.

Most Merciful Mother, remind us always
of the sorrows of your Divine Son.

Seventh Sorrow: Jesus Is Placed in the Tomb
(John 19:41-42)

Now in the place where Jesus had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, they laid Jesus there.

With great pain and tremendous sorrow, the Mother of the Word Incarnate returned home knowing, “It is accomplished!” The earthly life of her Son Jesus -- the work that the Eternal Father had given Him to do -- is accomplished.

Prayer: Most Beloved Mother, Mother of Mercy, Mother of Jesus, and Mother of us all, we are your children and we place our trust in you, as we place our trust in Jesus. Teach us to see God in all things and in all situations, even in our sufferings. Help us to understand the importance of redemptive suffering.

Immaculate Mother, although you were conceived without sin, you suffered more than others. You accepted suffering with love and with unsurpassed courage. You stood by your Son from the time He was arrested until He died. You suffered along with Jesus, accomplished the will of the Eternal Father, and hence became Mediatrix of all graces.

Mother Mary, we beg you to teach us to do as Jesus did. Teach us to accept our cross courageously. Help us to follow in His footsteps, even to be willing to lay down our lives for others. And when our end is upon us, may we also be able to say, “It is accomplished.” Amen.

Our Father (1x)
Hail Mary (7x)

Virgin Most Sorrowful, Pray for Us!

Virgin of all virgins blest!
Listen to my fond request:
Let me share your grief divine.

Let me to my latest breath,
In my body bear the death
Of that dying Son of yours.

Concluding Prayer
Mother Mary, Queen of Martyrs, your soul was immersed in the ocean of suffering. We beg you by the merits of the tears you shed in these terrible sorrowful mysteries, to obtain for us and all sinners of the world, the graces of complete sincerity, true repentance and conversion. Amen.

To wipe away our Sorrowful Mother’s tears shed because of the suffering of her Divine Son: Our Father (3x) and Hail Mary (3x)

“O Mary, conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to thee.” (3x)

The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

“In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

DELIVERANCE AND INNER HEALING

Many Protestant deliverance ministers behave as though freedom from the demonic is the ultimate objective. One of these once told me, “I’ll have you know that I am ‘triple-mantled’ for deliverance.” I don’t even know what that means.

Deliverance is part of God’s healing ministry. And deliverance -- apart from inner healing -- is abuse. The ultimate objective should be “inner healing and wholeness.”

“Nature abhors a vacuum.” The same is true in the spiritual realm. Deliverance from evil spirits creates a “spiritual vacuum.” Therefore, the immediate need (for one who is already baptized) is for the “infilling of the Holy Spirit” and prayer for “inner healing.” Then, through Daily Eucharist and frequent Confession, one will continue to be healed and become more whole. Sanctifying Grace received in the Sacraments fills the “spiritual vacuum.”

Some time ago, I came to realize that many of the healings I witness are, in fact, deliverances. A woman once exclaimed, “When you prayed for me, I felt something lift!” It was an oppressing spirit that left her -- because of the anointing (that is, the charism of healing).

For some cases, all that is required is a touch and a prayer; other cases require some spiritual warfare. And all that is required of me are simple commands “in the Name of Jesus,” as inspired by the Holy Spirit. [I do not perform exorcisms. Only a priest may perform an exorcism -- and only with the permission of his Bishop.] It is this charism that causes demons to manifest, and ultimately leave.

The charism that heals also delivers!

San Francisco, CA (September 1990)

_ I attended a Mario Murillo Crusade where I (a Catholic layman) was welcomed to pray for people in the ministry tent. One night I was led to three women. As I approached, one of them became silent and lowered her head. When I looked into her face, I saw her eyes “roll backward” into her skull. Only the white of her eyes could be seen.

The woman was possessed -- but the demons did not begin to manifest until I approached her. It was the presence of the anointing (the charism) that caused these demons to manifest.

This was my “introduction” to the deliverance side of God’s healing ministry. [God is in control, and I do my part.] I followed the inspirations of the Holy Spirit, and the woman was set free.

Days later, I was informed that this woman was one of two lesbians who had made a “suicide pact” with the Devil. That night, she had planned to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge -- but God intervened, and led her to the Crusade (below the bridge) where He had placed me.

Diocese of Arlington, VA (October 2010)

_ After a healing service in Northern Virginia, a psychotherapist asked me to pray with her patients. Then she took me to see one of her patients believed to be a “locutionist.” [A locution is a form of private revelation, similar to an apparition, but rather than being seen a locution is heard or received internally.]

The locutions were convincing -- but diabolical. The woman’s psychotherapist suspected demonic possession, and an exorcism had been approved and scheduled. I had been invited to participate in this exorcism, but the invitation was withdrawn because of liability concerns. Later, I was told the exorcism had been cancelled.

As we approached a large house in the suburbs, a woman yelled from the front door, “They know you’re coming!” The woman invited us into her home and proudly showed us her “shrine” -- a beautiful display of holy icons and statues… She was a nice lady, and it was obvious that she was a devout Catholic. But when she began to speak about Jesus, I heard the mocking voice of a demon!

I interrupted with the command, “In the Name of Jesus, evil spirit shut up!” And immediately, the woman became silent. I remember the surprised look on the doctor’s face.

I asked the woman to sit down, and we began to pray. I asked the doctor to pray the Rosary while I prayed for deliverance and inner-healing. [Once delivered, a man once said that he could feel the Power of the Rosary -- during the war for his soul!]

After two 3-hour sessions, the woman was free. And when the doctor asked me about the diabolical locutions, I told her to burn them.

~ * * * ~

Once delivered from evil spirits, there is no going back to the former (sinful) way of life. One is now called to “a life of holiness” -- a life centered on the Holy Eucharist. This is now very important -- because the evil spirits will return!

“When an unclean (evil) spirit goes out of someone, it roams through arid regions searching for rest but, finding none, it says, ‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’ But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there, and the last condition of that person is worse than the first.” (Luke 11:24-26)

[“When the assault of demons (evil spirits) is repulsed, the devil is not rendered incapable of further attack. But it seems that he cannot return immediately to the assault, but only after the lapse of a definite time.” _ St. Thomas Aquinas, The Summa Theologica]

When evil spirits return and find their (former) home Spirit-filled and Sacramentally fortified, they cannot “move in and dwell there.” All doors are closed; all permission (consent) is revoked.

DELIVERANCE FROM FEAR

THE SCREAM

“In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Jesus, You are my Salvation.
Whom should I fear?

But there is fear in me, O God.
Fear from childhood abuse and traumas
long forgotten,
fear buried alive in my subconscious mind,
fear that cripples me in the present day.

There is fear in me, O Lord.
Fear that binds me and imprisons me,
even though I am now in the Light.

Jesus, please BIND the "spirit of fear"
in my life.

Please heal all areas vulnerable to
the spirit of fear,
and all areas under its control.

I thank You for the gift of faith --
a faith greater than fear.

Eucharistic Jesus,
You are the healer of my soul.

Please heal my mind and memory,
my intellect and will.
Please heal all childhood memories
of abuse and trauma
that cause me such pain, anguish
and anxiety in the present day.

Jesus, I give You my wounded heart,
my troubled mind.
I give You my broken family.

In total abandonment and trust,
I surrender my life and family to You.
Take care of everything.

Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament,
I trust in You.

Blessed Virgin Mary, liberator of
the oppressed,
Crush the “head of the serpent”
in the lives of all who cannot
or will not forgive (me).

Immaculate Mother,
you are Mediatrix of all Grace.

For the sake of the sorrowful passion
of your Son Jesus,
please work your miracles of grace
in all whom I have injured.
Hold them, form them,
in your Immaculate Heart. Amen.

I now entrust all members of my family,
and myself,
to the Blessed Virgin Mary:
“Envelop us in thy mantle,
Immaculate Mother,
and we will be in total security. Amen.”

“In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

"O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You."
